We’re back!
Kami kembali!
So we went to Bali again for 2D1N, but this time we decided to stay in an old, but well-maintained and large 5-star hotel in Jimbaran, nearby Ngurah Rai International airport. It took less than 15 minutes to get there from the airport. We had no idea that the hotel was under renovation until we arrived and we were told to get in from the side lobby, not from the main one, as it was under construction too. I guess that answered why the hotel was quite cheap, especially compared to the great facilities and the best food quality we got.
Jadi kami pergi ke Bali lagi untuk 2H1N, tapi kali ini kami memutuskan untuk tinggal di hotel bintang 5 tua, tapi terawat baik dan besar di Jimbaran, dekat bandara Internasional Ngurah Rai. Butuh waktu kurang dari 15 menit untuk sampai ke sana dari bandara. Kami tidak tahu bahwa hotel ini sedang dalam renovasi sampai kami tiba dan kami disuruh masuk dari lobi samping, bukan dari lobi utama, karena sedang dibangun juga. Saya kira itu menjawab mengapa hotel ini cukup murah, terutama dibandingkan dengan fasilitas yang bagus dan kualitas makanan terbaik yang kami dapatkan.
I had never been to Intercontinental Bali Resort before, yet I could tell that the hotel used to be one of the more popular ones back in the day, judging by the classic luxurious room, classic amenities and facilities, and the well curated but classic looking gardens. The land was also immense: it has so many swimming pools, has access to Jimbaran beach, at least two outdoor playground areas. They also have their Club House, and assorted gardens and lounge areas. Turns out we stayed in the Club Room although we only paid for the standard hotel room; I don’t know whether they upgraded our room, or they specifically opened the Club House only due to the hotel being renovated and the usual pools included in that.
Saya belum pernah ke Intercontinental Bali Resort sebelumnya, namun saya dapat mengatakan bahwa hotel ini dulunya adalah salah satu hotel yang paling populer pada masa itu, dilihat dari kamar klasik yang mewah, fasilitas klasik, serta penataan taman yang rapi namun terlihat klasik. Tanahnya juga sangat luas: memiliki begitu banyak kolam renang, memiliki akses ke pantai Jimbaran, setidaknya dua area bermain luar ruangan. Mereka juga memiliki Club House, dan berbagai macam taman dan area lounge. Ternyata kami menginap di Club Room meskipun kami hanya membayar untuk kamar hotel standar; Saya tidak tahu apakah mereka meningkatkan kamar kami, atau mereka secara khusus membuka Club House hanya karena hotel sedang direnovasi dan kolam renang biasa termasuk di dalamnya.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were informed by the security guard at the front gate that we had to turn around after passing through the main lobby and turn left, get to the side entrance instead, because the main lobby was under renovation. We finally got to the small side gate, and were dropped off by our rented van, where the driver helped to unload our belongings. The concierge was ready to take over and also helped with our suitcases. We then had to walk through a quite long alley with small Japanese gardens and decorations along the side. We passed by the hotel restaurants area as well before we got to the receptionist desk. We checked-in right away, because it was around 1:30 PM, check-in time was at 2 PM. They served cool Telang Flower tea as the welcome drink each (including Izzy), and a refreshing towel each, which we enjoyed, as we continued to wait for about 40 minutes until our room was ready. The receptionist kept apologizing because they were a bit overwhelmed, since there were a big of group of people who just checked out at the same time.
Sesampainya di hotel, kami diberitahu oleh satpam di gerbang depan bahwa kami harus berbalik setelah melewati lobi utama dan belok kiri, malah masuk ke pintu samping, karena lobi utama sedang dalam renovasi. Kami akhirnya sampai di gerbang samping kecil, dan diturunkan oleh van sewaan kami, di mana pengemudi membantu menurunkan barang-barang kami. Concierge sudah siap untuk mengambil alih dan juga membantu dengan koper kami. Kami kemudian harus berjalan melalui gang yang cukup panjang dengan taman Jepang kecil dan dekorasi di sepanjang sisinya. Kami melewati area restoran hotel juga sebelum kami sampai ke meja resepsionis. Kami langsung check-in, karena saat itu sekitar jam 13.30, waktu check-in jam 2 siang. Mereka menyajikan teh Bunga Telang dingin sebagai minuman selamat datang masing-masing (termasuk Izzy), dan handuk menyegarkan masing-masing, yang kami nikmati, sambil terus menunggu sekitar 40 menit sampai kamar kami siap. Resepsionis terus meminta maaf karena mereka sedikit kewalahan, karena ada sekelompok besar orang yang baru saja check out pada saat yang bersamaan.

(+) Massive bedroom; big size bathroom, big wardrobe area, and big balcony. The hotel is large, and has so many facilities.
Plenty of wildlife in the area: ducks and birds, squirrels, and even a monitor lizard! It scared the heck out of us.
(-) The in-room dining and the restaurant only accepted payment in cash. Daddy had to walk quite far to the receptionist each time we paid for our order from the restaurant. Since we did not really carry much cash, we prefer to pay with debit card, especially during pandemic, however only the reception that has the debit card machine.
(+) Kamar tidur besar; kamar mandi ukuran besar, area lemari pakaian besar, dan balkon besar. Hotel ini besar, dan memiliki begitu banyak fasilitas.
Banyak satwa liar di area ini: bebek dan burung, tupai, dan bahkan biawak! Itu membuat kami kaget.
(-) Makan di dalam kamar dan restoran hanya menerima pembayaran tunai. Daddy harus berjalan cukup jauh ke resepsionis setiap kali kami membayar pesanan kami dari restoran. Karena kami tidak membawa banyak uang tunai, kami lebih memilih untuk membayar dengan kartu debit, terutama selama pandemi, namun hanya resepsionis yang memiliki mesin kartu debit.
We feel like this hotel is perfect for families - it’s even more suitable for a big family holiday, or a group of people. We would love to come back again next time with our extended family, when the renovations are done, and when the world is back to normal. Hopefully not that long. :)
Kami merasa hotel ini sangat cocok untuk keluarga - bahkan lebih cocok untuk liburan keluarga besar, atau sekelompok orang. Kami akan senang untuk kembali lagi lain kali dengan keluarga besar kami, ketika renovasi selesai, dan ketika dunia kembali normal. Semoga tidak selama itu. :)
