It was such a relief when we finally landed in Bali. This end of year holiday was a little bit more stressful due to COVID-19 regulations, so we ended up canceling our trip to Lombok, although all the tickets, and hotels had been booked. We heard that the government would implement another set of restrictions aimed at preventing the new variant of COVID-19 (Omicron) from spreading so widely. I felt it was too much of a hassle if we have to travel to several towns and islands, especially considering Izzy’s comfort, that she needs to do a PCR every time we fly now, unlike our previous trip to Bali-NTT when kids under 12 years old did not need to do PCR/Antigen. With the regulations changing and kids not being vaccinated, they now have to do the PCR. Only vaccinated people are allowed to do either Antigen or PCR. It was only logical and fair to Izzy to modify our travel plans. Oh well!
On that day, we visited Bali Bird Park, it was not far from where we stayed.

Penglipuran Village
We arrived a little bit too early for the check-in time, so we decided to wait and have our lunch at the hotel’s restaurant.
We then checked-in at 2 PM, and decided to swim at their Water Play Zone in the Bali Safari area. It was just walking distance from the hotel lobby.

Bali Safari & Marine Park
We checked out from Mara River Safari Lodge and moved to our next 4-star hotel in Seminyak, Tijili Hotel. We wanted to stay in Seminyak for a bit, so we could run around the area and meet up some friends and family who live in Bali.
We went out to check out some paintings that day.
Benny’s Gallery in Canggu
We checked out at around 11AM, dropped our belongings at the concierge, so we could pick them up after we came back from Seminyak. We went out for a little shopping at Seminyak Square, and had our lunch in a restaurant in the same area. Seminyak was busy that afternoon, and we were not comfortable to be in the crowd without wearing our mask, so we tried to find a restaurant that was not too busy and packed. It was quite hard though, as some restaurants we checked were super full. We almost gave up until Daddy saw a ‘hidden gem’. This restaurant was barely noticeable. It was on the second floor of some shops. When we got there it was empty, basically just us.
We felt so lucky to find Tokyo Skipjack. The food we ordered was so delicious! All of them! I remember that this restaurant also has another branch in South Jakarta. Not that far from our home.
Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort
We got to our new hotel around the check-in time at 3 PM. However, they seemed overwhelmed, and our room was not ready yet. It was kind of annoying, but we tried to be patient and just enjoy our holiday. They gave us 2 glasses of welcome drinks, and free cake & beverages as the compensation for our late check-in. Finally, after waiting for almost 2 hours, our room was ready. Phew!
It was the last evening of 2021. When we came back from our New Year’s Eve dinner at the Backstage restaurant, our hotel room was soaked due to the air conditioner’s condensation. We called and asked them to send their maintenance to check. Long story short, they would prepare another room for us. They promised that the room would be done after we came back from New Year’s celebration, so we celebrated New Year’s Eve with Renaissance at a family party by the pool. I called it family, because I saw some kids and parents too. Although we didn’t stay too long, we had fun! We came back to our new room a couple minutes after New Year’s count down. We needed to rest. Izzy enjoyed the free ice cream, and she even danced to the music from the DJ before we left the party. Ha!
Lava Land Kids Club
Bli Puja, our driver, drove us to Seminyak area again for more shopping. We enjoyed our lunch at Corner House Bali, before heading to Uluwatu Temple. We had our reservation for the Uluwatu Kecak dance at 5 PM.
The Saren
We arrived around 9 PM at that night. We informed the Saren staff in advance that we needed a late check-in.
It was our relaxing day. We walked around the neighborhood.
We chose to have the breakfast in bed on our last morning in Bali. We checked out quite early, leaving for Jakarta.
Our holiday was over. Hopefully we will be back again soon! See you Bali! <3
Luckily, the travel app we used only took a little bit of money from the tickets we bought, for canceling our one-way flight with Citilink from Lombok to Bali. The hotels also returned our money fully around a week after cancellation, and we only needed to add a little extra to Garuda for the rescheduling of our tickets from Jakarta-Lombok, to Jakarta-Bali. We deliberately chose the flexible tickets and hotels though, knowing what might happen. Our trip was initially from Jakarta to Lombok, and then from Lombok to Bali. We wanted to celebrate Christmas in Lombok, and celebrate the New Year in Bali. However, it all changed!
Anyways, we were glad that we finally made it to Bali! This trip was a little bit chaotic because I didn’t really plan this trip fully, as I normally do. I didn’t really plan my day-to-day outfit. Mainly, because I was worried about the situation that might lead the trip’s cancellation. We were kind of running out of clothes, especially Izzy, she had so many shorts left, but not enough tops. Oh well, at least Bali now has so many shops that are back open.
Day 1 | Hilton Bali Resort
We stayed in Nusa Dua for the first couple nights. We went straight to Hilton Bali Resort from Ngurah Rai International airport. I also invited my Mom to join us in this holiday. We met at the airport and headed to the hotel together. She was in Bali for only a couple days, it was so quick, but I’m glad that at least Izzy got to meet her grandma again.

I took a picture of a unique, colorful house near the beach when I went out for a morning run. I also stopped for a bit on the beach. It was lovely, until I stomped on a massive dog poo on the pavement when running back to the hotel. I couldn’t really see properly since I didn’t wear my contact lenses. That was so unfortunate, but also funny at the same time. Huff!

We definitely loved our room! Loved the interior design and its color combination. They also gave us a little surprise in our room, and placed them on top of the table: popcorn and two bottles of beer. Sweet!

Time to move to our next destination again, our last hotel for this holiday. We checked out from Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua, and the concierge helped us with our belongings. Our rental car and driver was ready to take us. We had been using the same driver from our last holiday in June.
