The wind was sizzling, and the sky looked so clearly blue. We could see the ocean further away from the lobby, though it was just a little hidden. We enjoyed the welcome drinks they served: refreshing, sweet, and just what we needed after a long trip under the sun. The road to the hotel, however, was long. Not just long. Very long. We wondered where we were really going, but eventually we arrived at Sheraton Belitung Resort.
Angin bertiup kencang, dan langit tampak biru cerah. Kami bisa melihat laut lebih jauh dari lobi, meski agak tersembunyi. Kami menikmati minuman selamat datang yang mereka sajikan: menyegarkan, manis, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan kami setelah perjalanan jauh di bawah sinar matahari. Namun jalan menuju hotel tadi panjang. Tidak hanya panjang. Sangat panjang. Kami bertanya-tanya sebenarnya tujuan kami kemana, namun akhirnya kami sampai di Sheraton Belitung Resort.
We needed to shower badly after the check-in, then order the in-room dining: have our lunch before heading out again, as we wanted to see the sunset at Tanjung Tinggi beach, one of the shooting sites of Laskar Pelangi the movie.
Kami harus mandi sehabis check-in, lalu memesan makan di kamar: makan siang sebelum keluar lagi, karena kami ingin melihat matahari terbenam di pantai Tanjung Tinggi, salah satu lokasi syuting film Laskar Pelangi.
The resort is technically quite new. If I’m not mistaken, the opening was in 2019, a year before the pandemic hit. This meant the whole place felt kind of new, and kind of unfinished in places. Our room was on the 2nd floor, which was the upper-most floor. They actually confirmed with us whether we preferred to be on the 2nd floor or the 1st floor. I chose the higher one, as I don’t mind to take the stairs to one floor above. Our room had a lagoon outside our balcony, and I just didn’t want to have a random ‘visitor’ if we stayed on the first floor. We stayed there for 4 nights in the end. The room looked simple but still had a luxurious touch. I loved how they combined the wood, grey stone, and the terrazzo. It was a bit like home when we entered the bathroom, as we have the same sink, grey accent wall, as well as the terrazzo. Lovely!
Resor ini secara teknis cukup baru. Kalau tidak salah pembukaannya pada tahun 2019, setahun sebelum pandemi melanda. Artinya seluruh tempat terasa baru, dan ada yang belum selesai. Kamar kami berada di lantai 2, yang merupakan lantai paling atas. Mereka sebenarnya mengkonfirmasi kepada kami apakah kami lebih suka berada di lantai 2 atau lantai 1. Saya memilih yang lebih tinggi, karena saya tidak keberatan untuk naik tangga ke satu lantai di atasnya. Kamar kami memiliki laguna di luar balkon kami, dan saya tidak ingin ada 'pengunjung' acak jika kami tinggal di lantai pertama. Kami tinggal di sana selama 4 malam pada akhirnya. Ruangannya terlihat sederhana namun tetap memiliki sentuhan mewah. Saya menyukai cara mereka memadukan kayu, batu abu-abu, dan teraso. Rasanya seperti rumah sendiri ketika kami memasuki kamar mandi, karena kami memiliki wastafel yang sama, dinding beraksen abu-abu, serta teraso. Cantik!

(+) The all-round service was excellent! They managed to surpass our expectations. They gave us little surprise in our room almost everyday. Shout out to Agung the house keeper. We enjoyed all the food we had, they were delicious and good quality, we loved the resort peacefulness. It was a lovely sweet escape from hectic Jakarta. The resort looked beautiful, the lagoon idea was also a good addition to the resort. We especially appreciated their efforts to keep our daughter entertained, by letting her feed the fish.
(-) We had a minor accident with the iron in our room: Daddy’s shirt got a black stain from the iron. We informed them, they apologized, and took Daddy’s shirt and cleaned it. No stain, no problem. They also need to clean the kids pool more frequently I guess, we found so many dead insects.
(+) Layanan serba luar biasa! Mereka berhasil melampaui ekspektasi kami. Mereka memberi kami sedikit kejutan di kamar kami hampir setiap hari. Salam untuk House Keeper Agung. Kami menikmati semua makanan yang kami makan, makanannya lezat dan berkualitas baik, kami menyukai kedamaian resor. Itu adalah pelarian manis yang menyenangkan dari Jakarta yang sibuk. Resornya terlihat indah, ide laguna juga merupakan tambahan yang bagus untuk resor ini. Kami sangat menghargai upaya mereka untuk menghibur putri kami, dengan membiarkannya memberi makan ikan.
(-) Kami mengalami kecelakaan kecil dengan setrika di kamar kami: Kemeja Daddy terkena noda hitam akibat setrika. Kami memberi tahu mereka, mereka meminta maaf, lalu mengambil kemeja Daddy dan membersihkannya. Tidak ada noda, tidak masalah. Mereka juga perlu membersihkan kolam anak-anak lebih sering. Saya rasa, kami menemukan begitu banyak serangga mati.
We had a pleasant holiday! We really wish we had stayed longer. We were lucky that we booked the resort earlier than most people, as the resort wasn’t busy when we were there. It sometimes felt like we had a private resort when nobody was on the beach or in pool other than us. The staff there said that they would be busy soon after we checked out. Whoa! Hopefully we can come back again soon! Ta-ta Sheraton Belitung Resort!
Kami memiliki liburan yang menyenangkan! Kami benar-benar berharap kami bisa tinggal lebih lama. Kami beruntung karena kami memesan resor ini lebih awal dari kebanyakan orang, karena resor ini tidak sibuk ketika kami berada di sana. Kadang-kadang kami merasa seperti memiliki resor pribadi ketika tidak ada orang lain selain kami di pantai atau di kolam renang. Staf di sana mengatakan bahwa mereka akan sibuk segera setelah kami check out. Wah! Semoga kami dapat kembali lagi dalam waktu dekat! Dadah Sheraton Belitung Resort!
