For so long we had been so curious about this hotel, as we passed by every time we visited Double-Six beach in Seminyak, back when we were a bit younger, and only could afford 4 star accommodation every time we went to Bali. We did not even bother to check its price back then, because it looked quite fancy and massive from outside. But the curiosity remained all this time, and it finally got the better of us, and we booked it.
Sudah lama kami penasaran dengan hotel ini, setiap kali kami mengunjungi pantai Double-Six di Seminyak, ketika kami masih lebih muda, dan hanya mampu membeli akomodasi bintang 4 setiap kali kami pergi ke Bali. Kami bahkan tidak repot-repot memeriksa harganya saat itu, karena terlihat cukup mewah dan besar dari luar. Tapi rasa penasaran itu tetap ada selama ini, dan akhirnya menguasai kami, dan kami pun memesannya.
As we entered the hotel gate, we drove up to its main lobby, which was quite nice and sheltered - a good enough start. We let the concierge collect our suitcases, and walked straight to the receptionist for check-in. They have an open lobby that was connected straight to their restaurant and the swimming pool area. In our opinion, the lobby was alright, yet far from fancy; it was showing signs of age, and certainly lacked the ‘punch’ we expected from what used to be one of the noisiest hotels in Seminyak. What’s more, it was dark! I mean, okay, it’s still technically the pandemic, and you need to squeeze the budget here and there, but it was borderline spooky. They also only had 2 small elevators right in front of the lobby parking area, and really not much going on. We began to think that maybe their 5-star rating is a little bit over-rated.
Saat kami memasuki gerbang hotel, kami melaju ke lobi utamanya, yang cukup bagus dan terlindung - awal yang cukup baik. Kami membiarkan concierge mengambil koper kami, dan berjalan langsung ke resepsionis untuk check-in. Mereka memiliki lobi terbuka yang terhubung langsung ke restoran dan area kolam renang. Menurut pendapat kami, lobinya oke-oke saja, namun jauh dari mewah; itu menunjukkan tanda-tanda usia, dan tentu saja kurang 'pukulan' yang kami harapkan dari apa yang dulunya merupakan salah satu hotel paling berisik di Seminyak. Terlebih lagi, lobinya gelap! Maksud saya, oke, secara teknis ini masih pandemi, dan kamu perlu memeras anggaran di sana-sini, tetapi itu hampir menakutkan. Mereka juga hanya memiliki 2 lift kecil tepat di depan area parkir lobi, dan benar-benar tidak banyak yang terjadi. Kami mulai berpikir bahwa mungkin peringkat bintang 5 mereka sedikit berlebihan.

(+) It has it’s own spot on Double Six beach, Seminyak. We basically just needed to cross the small road to get to the beach. I loved our room’s balcony, it was big and it was facing the beach. Our room and its bathroom also were spacious. The pool was pretty big, and heated in places.
(-) Everything kind of has that ‘cheap’ or outdated feel to it now. The linoleum floors around the hotel were a big no, and were coming up in places. There were obvious signs of wear and tear, mostly on the walls and floors. The aircon, for whatever reason, had a moisture setting that couldn’t be turned off, so the bed always felt kind of damp. The breakfast, while okay, was very limited, and was pretty slow to come out.
(+) Memiliki spot tersendiri di pantai Double Six, Seminyak. Kami pada dasarnya hanya perlu menyeberang jalan kecil untuk sampai ke pantai. Saya suka balkon kamar kami, balkonnya besar dan menghadap ke pantai. Kamar kami dan kamar mandinya juga luas. Kolam renangnya cukup besar, dan hangat di berbagai tempat.
(-) Semuanya memiliki nuansa 'murah' atau ketinggalan zaman sekarang. Lantai linoleum di sekitar hotel tidak terlalu bagus, dan muncul di beberapa tempat. Ada tanda-tanda keausan yang jelas, kebanyakan di dinding dan lantai. AC, untuk alasan apa pun, memiliki pengaturan kelembaban yang tidak dapat dimatikan, sehingga tempat tidur selalu terasa lembab. Sarapan, sementara oke, sangat terbatas, dan cukup lambat untuk keluar.
We stayed at this hotel for 4 days 3 nights. We had our breakfast every day at the Double-Six restaurant, next to the pool, and its Lagoon Bar. I felt like the hotel has sort of like a new younger couple’s vibe, not a family hotel. But that was alright, we still had our fun; at least the swimming pool was quite big. I also guess it would be a once in a lifetime experience with this hotel, not because it was monsterously expensive, as we got some discount when we booked it, but because we will only do it once - we probably won’t be going back unless there is a colossal renovation job put in place to earn that 5 star rating because, as it stands, there is no way it meets the standards of a 5 star hotel. It is, however, a very good 4 star hotel.
Kami menginap di hotel ini selama 4 hari 3 malam. Kami menyantap sarapan kami setiap hari di restoran Double-Six, di sebelah kolam renang, dan Lagoon Bar-nya. Saya merasa hotel ini memiliki semacam getaran pasangan muda yang baru, bukan hotel keluarga. Tapi tidak apa-apa, kami masih bersenang-senang; setidaknya kolam renangnya cukup besar. Saya juga kira itu akan menjadi pengalaman sekali seumur hidup dengan hotel ini, bukan karena itu sangat mahal, karena kita mendapatkan potongan harga ketika kami memesannya, tetapi karena kami hanya akan melakukannya sekali - kami mungkin tidak akan kembali kecuali ada pekerjaan renovasi besar-besaran yang dilakukan untuk mendapatkan peringkat bintang 5 itu karena, sebagaimana adanya, tidak mungkin memenuhi standar hotel bintang 5. Namun, ini adalah hotel bintang 4 yang sangat bagus.
