Hi! - Mommy Bear’s mom, Bunda (Izzy’s grandmother) is in town again! She has some meetings to attend and work duty here in Jakarta. She has been staying at the Ascott Jakarta for 1 night, with another 4 days to go. She asked us to stay with her on the first night of her stay, which was yesterday, Sunday to Monday. We came back home earlier tonight after having dinner together there. It was good that Izzy had some bonding time with her grandmother as well.
Hai! - Ibu Mommy Bear, Bunda (nenek Izzy) ada di kota lagi! Dia memiliki beberapa pertemuan untuk dihadiri dan tugas kerja di sini di Jakarta. Dia telah tinggal di Ascott Jakarta selama 1 malam, dengan 4 hari waktu inap lagi. Dia meminta kami untuk menginap bersamanya pada malam pertama ia menginap, yaitu kemarin, hari Minggu ke Senin. Kami kembali ke rumah tadi malam ini setelah makan malam bersama di sana. Untunglah Izzy juga memiliki waktu akrab dengan neneknya.
The first impression of this serviced apartment was that it’s a bit dated. The reason we chose this serviced apartment because of the location, which is very good, as it’s not far from the Ministry, the place my mom needs to visit, and it’s also next to the biggest mall in Indonesia, Grand Indonesia, as well as being nearby Thamrin City, and still walking distance to Plaza Indonesia, one of the oldest and high-end malls. Price wise, considering the location, this serviced apartment is very cheap.
Kesan pertama dari apartemen berlayanan ini adalah agak kuno. Alasan kami memilih apartemen berlayanan ini karena lokasinya yang sangat bagus, tidak jauh dari Kementerian, tempat yang perlu dikunjungi bunda saya, dan juga di sebelah mall terbesar di Indonesia, Grand Indonesia, serta dekat dengan Thamrin City, dan masih dalam jarak berjalan kaki ke Plaza Indonesia, salah satu mal tertua dan kelas atas. Dari segi harga, mengingat lokasinya, apartemen berlayanan ini sangat murah.

Price per night: 815,762 IDR (We technically stayed for free, since my mom paid for it, lol. The price is cheaper than normal, because of the Black Friday discount).
Harga per malam: Rp. 815,762 (Secara teknis kami menginap dengan gratis, karena bunda saya yang membayarnya, haha. Harganya lebih murah dari harga normal, karena diskon Black Friday).

1. The Room:
Layout and Interior: 4/5 - 80 m²/861 ft². The hanging artworks were attractive, and the white wardrobes were spacious. The living room is quite large for a one bedroom apartment, but it gave Izzy space to run around. Although the interior looks a bit old, it still looks good and reasonably well maintained.
The View: 3/5 - Not the best view, since it’s facing Thamrin City shopping center, and it’s blocking the other views. The windows were a bit dirty too.
1. Ruangan:
Tata ruang dan bagian dalamnya: 4/5 - 80 m²/861 ft². Karya seni gantungnya menarik, dan lemari putihnya luas. Ruang tamu cukup besar untuk apartemen satu kamar tidur, tapi itu memberi Izzy ruang untuk berlarian. Meski interiornya terlihat agak tua, namun tetap terlihat bagus dan cukup terawat.
Pemandangannya: 3/5 - Bukan pemandangan terbaik, karena menghadap pusat perbelanjaan Thamrin City, dan ThamCit menghalangi pemandangan lain. Jendelanya juga agak kotor.
Bathroom: 4/5 - I like the bathroom size: it’s big! We could see some old stains on the mirror, but that’s okay, because overall it’s still clean and everything was still working properly. We actually can tell that this bathroom used to be fancy in its era.
Kamar Mandi: 4/5 - Saya suka ukuran kamar mandinya: besar! Kami bisa melihat beberapa noda lama di cermin, tapi tidak apa-apa, karena secara keseluruhan masih bersih dan semuanya masih berfungsi dengan baik. Kami benar-benar dapat mengatakan bahwa kamar mandi ini dulunya mewah di zamannya.
Toiletries: 3.5/5 - They were not bad. The packaging looks good. The shampoo, shower gel, conditioner smell okay.
Room Service: 4/5 - I ordered Soto Lamongan from Indonesian food menu, it was tasty, and was served with steamed rice, emping, and sambal as shown in the pictures below. Maybe it was the most expensive Soto Lamongan I had.
Perlengkapan Mandi: 3.5/5 - Mereka tidak buruk. Kemasannya terlihat bagus. Sampo, shower gel, kondisioner wangi.
Servis Kamar: 4/5 - Saya pesan Soto Lamongan dari menu makanan Indonesia, rasanya gurih, disajikan dengan nasi kukus, emping, dan sambal seperti terlihat pada gambar di bawah ini. Mungkin itu Soto Lamongan termahal yang saya makan.
2. Amenities:
Breakfast: 3/5 - During the pandemic, the breakfast is delivered to our room, and it’s inside of plastic containers (see picture above). The menu was on a piece of paper on the dining table, and we had to inform them via phone or Whatsapp. It seemed like they were busy that morning, our food took almost 2 hours to be prepared and delivered. The coffee was cold too, and everything was delivered in plastic and cardboard boxes. Not very eco-friendly.
Swimming Pool: 3/5 - The pool looked old, it reminded me of the 5-star hotels’ pools I’ve been when I was a kid. The slabs around it were broken in places too. No kids pool, the first pool is 120m deep, the other pool’s depth is 165m.
Tennis Court: 4/5 - It’s next to the small swimming pool. It looked alright.
2. Fasilitas:
Sarapan Pagi: 3/5 - Selama pandemi, sarapan dikirim ke kamar kami, dan sarapan itu berada di dalam wadah plastik (lihat gambar di atas). Menu ada di selembar kertas di atas meja makan, dan kami harus memberi tahu mereka melalui telepon atau Whatsapp. Sepertinya mereka sibuk pagi itu, makanan kami membutuhkan waktu hampir 2 jam untuk disiapkan dan dikirim. Kopinya juga dingin, dan semuanya dikirim dalam kotak plastik dan karton. Tidak terlalu ramah lingkungan.
Kolam Renang: 3/5 - Kolam renangnya tampak tua, itu mengingatkan saya pada kolam renang hotel bintang 5 yang pernah saya kunjungi ketika saya masih kecil. Lantai di sekitarnya juga rusak di beberapa tempat. Tidak ada kolam renang anak, kolam pertama dalamnya 120m, kedalaman kolam yang lainnya adalah 165m.
Lapangan Tennis: 4/5 - Lapangan tennis-nya di sebelah kolam renang kecil. Tampak baik-baik saja.
3. Location: 5/5 - The location is great, especially if you like to visit malls or shopping centers. It’s also nearby Hotel Indonesia roundabout, as well as not being too far from other main attractions in Jakarta. It is also walking distance to Jl Thamrin if you want to experience car free day. However, the car free day is no longer officially on for the time being, due to the COVID19 pandemic.
4. Overall service: 4/5 - The security who welcomed us in the outside lobby was friendly; he checked our body temperature, and showed us the automatic hand sanitizer on our left side before entering the lobby. We had to wait for one and a half hour in the lobby as the place was busy - the reception said they’re still in the process of cleaning our room, and promised us late check-out on our last day, as they checked us in so late.
5. Value: 5/5 - For me, it’s very affordable for that kind of room size that completed with kitchen and its appliances. For that kind of price and the location, you shouldn’t really complain. It took less than two minutes to Grand Indonesia, and whole place just had quite a nice vibe.
3. Lokasi: 5/5 - Lokasinya bagus, terutama jika kamu suka mengunjungi mal atau pusat perbelanjaan. Hotel ini juga dekat dengan bundaran Hotel Indonesia, serta tidak terlalu jauh dari tempat-tempat wisata utama di Jakarta. Juga berjalan kaki ke Jl Thamrin jika kamu ingin mengalami hari bebas mobil. Namun, car free day tidak lagi resmi untuk sementara karena pandemi COVID19.
4. Servis Secara Keseluruhan: 4/5 - Petugas keamanan yang menyambut kami di lobi luar sangat ramah; Dia memeriksa suhu tubuh kami, dan menunjukkan pembersih tangan otomatis di sisi kiri kami sebelum memasuki lobi. Kami harus menunggu satu setengah jam di lobi karena tempat itu sibuk - resepsionis mengatakan mereka masih dalam proses membersihkan kamar kami, dan berjanji kepada kami untuk check-out lebih lambat pada hari terakhir kami, karena mereka membuat kami check-in sangat terlambat.
5. Harga: 5/5 - Bagi saya, sangat terjangkau untuk ruangan seperti itu dengan dapur dan peralatannya. Untuk harga dan lokasi seperti itu, kamu tidak perlu mengeluh. Butuh waktu kurang dari dua menit untuk mencapai Grand Indonesia, dan seluruh tempat memiliki suasana yang cukup menyenangkan.
Although almost every corner, inside and out of the hotel looked dated, including the lobby, the maintenance seemed to do their job quite well, as the hotel is clean and well maintained. All the staff were also very friendly. Anyway, we will be back there again soon to see Bunda. Hope you find my review is useful. Take care!
Meskipun hampir di setiap sudut, di dalam dan di luar hotel terlihat kuno, termasuk lobi, pemeliharaannya tampak cukup berhasil, karena hotel ini bersih dan terawat. Semua staf juga sangat ramah. Ngomong-ngomong, kami akan segera kembali lagi kesana untuk bertemu Bunda. Semoga review saya bermanfaat. Hati hati!
